The Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) offers a small start-up research grant to support early-career investigators who need limited funding to explore innovative, exploratory ideas particularly in areas where traditional research funding may be limited or unavailable.

2025 – The 2025 General Research Grant was awarded to Lejla Alić, MD, PhD, University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Medicine, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, for her project entitled “The role of joint action of anti-malondialdehyde antibodies and complement factor H polymorphisms in kidney graft function and rejection."
2024 – The 2024 General Research Grant was awarded to Cristina Andrea Figueroa Villalba, MD, Clinical Pathology Resident, Yale School of Medicine, for her project entitled "Measuring CD147 Marker for Transfusion Success of Red Cell Units Over Storage: A Comparison Between Whole Blood Derived and Apheresis Derived Units.”
2023 – General Research Grant not awarded.
2022 – The 2022 General Research Grant was awarded to Edward S. Lee, MD, PhD, Resident, Yale School of Medicine, for his project entitled "Characterizing the Role of Marginal Zone B Cells in Memory Responses to Red Blood Cell Transfusions Using Single Cell Sequencing.”

2020 – The 2020 General Research Grant was awarded to Gaurav K. Gupta, MD, PhD, Clinical Fellow, Yale New Haven Hospital, for his project entitled "Assessment of Factor V Activity in Apheresis Platelet Units.”

2018 – The 2018 General Research Grant was awarded to Khushbu Patel, PhD, Assistant Professor, Pathology, UT Southwestern Medical Center, for her project entitled "Validation of microRNA 323-3p as a Predictor of Ectopic Pregnancy."
